ABOUT CHARLIE MORRIS

I am a corporate financier and occasional tax advisor, with M&A experience as an advisor as well as in industry. This is actually my side hustle - my main job is being bossed around by three very opinionated small people. I really love what I do - for corporate financiers the dream is to help someone who has spent countless years growing their business come up with exciting new ways to add value, seek investment for new adventures or acquisition, or indeed retire (although entrepreneurs as a breed tend to be addicts who keep coming back for more!). Deals are an exhilarating, challenging and at times stressful experience, people rarely do it more than a handful of times, and they have a tendency to become all consuming - it is likely to be one of the most important events of your life. I definitely don\'t know everything, but I know how a deal works, what it\'s like to be sold, to work for private equity as an advisor and a portfolio company, and enough tax to know when I need to call an expert. I’ve been audited and diligenced and survived to tell the tale.I am also a proud Northerner who will unashamedly engage in small talk with a stranger, so I\'ve landed the perfect gig meeting the best businesses the North has to offer, and sharing stories. I want to meet business owners, help them in the journey in any small way that I can, so that one day if you do decide to take the plunge (perhaps again!) you might ask me to give you a hand. When I\'m not at work or pretending I\'m in charge at home, my favourite activity is brainstorming my next overambitious holiday, as that\'s much more exciting than my life admin list. I will happily talk to anyone about the Moai in Easter Island, safari in Namibia, or ask me about the time I broke both my arms in Bolivia…
