ABOUT CHARLIE FERRUSI
Charlie Ferrusi is a dedicated public health professional, political organizer, and social justice activist based in Brooklyn and Hudson, NY. He holds a BS in Health Education from SUNY Brockport, an MPH in Community Health from NYU’s School of Global Public Health, and an Advanced Certificate in Nutrition from Stony Brook School of Medicine. Charlie is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and holds New York State Teaching Certification in Health Education. Currently, Charlie is a Senior Project Manager at Columbia University’s Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center. Previously, he has worked with New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute, University of California San Francisco, and Mount Sinai Institute for Advanced Medicine.For over a decade, Charlie has been at the forefront of efforts to eliminate health disparities and advance health equity for LGBTQ New Yorkers and people with HIV/AIDS. Since 2010, he has played a key role in progressive political campaigns across New York and has spearheaded large-scale public health and LGBTQ initiatives. In 2016, he was a founding Board Member of OutHudson, a Columbia County-based LGBTQ nonprofit. In 2017, he developed the Fulton Stall Market Community-Supported Agriculture program in Lower Manhattan. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood. Charlie remains committed to creating healthier, more equitable communities through his work in public health, advocacy, and grassroots organizing. In his spare time, Charlie enjoys cooking, gardening, gaming, snowboarding, cheerleading, and playing with his cat, Otis.
