ABOUT CHARLES RICHTER

With over 40 years of experience in nuclear procedure writing, plant operations, and training leadership, I am currently a plant procedure writer at Surry and North Anna Nuclear Plants with Planet Forward. I am writing test procedures for Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) for the digital controls upgrade modification. I have extensive Leadership experience as a Plant Procedure Writer, SRO, RO, OPS Instructor, and OPS Training Supervisor in all phases of initial and continuing training and examination. I have a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering Technology degree from Excelsior College, graduating summa cum laude. I held NRC Reactor Operator (11 years) and Senior Reactor Operator Licenses (17 years) for a total of 28 years. I currently hold a PPA Procedure Writer Certification.I have also worked part time as a 10CFR50.69 system categorization consultant at Associated Engineering Resources, Inc, evaluating nuclear systems for downgrade of costly requirements per 10CFR50.69. This position requires previous SRO license and knowledge of system function redundancies and interrelations for NRC review and approval. Additionally, I have instructed RO and SRO candidates in the classroom and simulator at both Farley and Salem Nuclear Plants, collaborating with OPS staff procedure writers to upgrade the quality of all OPS procedures. My mission is to apply my nuclear expertise and skills to ensure excellence, safety, and efficiency, in the nuclear industry.
