About Charles Reid
My personal strengths, master’s level education, relevant work experience, and passion for creative mechanical design will allow me to excel in a mechanical engineering position.I have access to a vast wealth of engineering knowledge through my education. I maintain a library of engineering textbooks from all the courses I have taken, and I have organized my notes to be more readily accessible. I am very organized, keep a clean desk, and maintain a list of objectives to accomplish. I am a reliable individual who follows engineering procedures. I possess a high level of motivation and I am a dedicated problem solver. I am a recent graduate from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. The two concentrations for my master’s degree are Design & Manufacturing and Thermofluids. I thoroughly enjoyed working on a number of engineering projects in graduate school. I assisted with the writing of a chapter in Professor Niemi’s book on aerodynamics. The chapter dealt specifically with the aerodynamics of ground vehicles. Two other projects that I really enjoyed were writing software for a heat sink design tool in Cooling of Electrical Equipment and calculating the wetted surface area of an autonomous underwater vehicle in Ocean Engineering.I have previous experience working for a small manufacturing company that specializes in torque wrenches, gears, and other mechanical devices. The activity that I enjoyed the most while working for this company was the design a new torque wrench using the SolidWorks CAD package. I also assisted with the design and manufacture for a number of custom parts, including fixtures for the machine shop.I have always wanted to work for a company that develops technology to solve the most challenging problems. I am a creative problem solver that enjoys working as part of a team. I am confident that my extensive mechanical engineering education and experience, reliability, flexibility, and exceptional work ethic make me an ideal candidate for my next position. My interests include woodworking, computer programming, reading, and exercise.
