About Charles Morse
I defend clients in high-stakes products liability cases, with more than a dozen years\' experience handling mass litigations involving claims by hundreds or even thousands of individuals. Besides the usual expertise in tort law that a practice like mine entails, the scope of the litigation I have handled has given me particular expertise in managing the considerable logistical challenges that come with keeping dozens of related cases going simultaneously. Litigation on that scale requires systemic thinking of a kind not often required in one-off lawsuits.I have played a leading role in Jones Day\'s national representation of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in what is known as the Engle-progeny litigation. That litigation involves several thousand individual lawsuits arising out of the Florida Supreme Court\'s decision in Engle v. Liggett Group, Inc. As one of the architects of the defense strategy and as one of the lawyers called upon to execute that strategy, I have served as counsel in well over a hundred individual cases, at both the trial and appellate level, in the last 10 years.I also serve as the partner responsible for Jones Day\'s Library and Research Services Department.
