With a background in Urban Planning, he participates in programming, feasibility studies, master plans, site planning & other research projects. Charles Michelson has earned his board certification in healthcare architecture (ACHA). Charles passed an accredited examination that assesses the knowledge and understanding of architects specializing in healthcare. With this certification, Mr. Michelson joins the ranks of more than 400 board-certified healthcare architects in the United States and Canada who have received this important architectural credential. ACHA require its certificate holders to work towards the improvement of healthcare architecture on behalf of the public, to practice in an ethical manner and to maintain the highest standards in the specialized field of healthcare architecture. Mr. Michelson has 33 years of medical healthcare project experience. He also has AHCA hospital experience at Memorial Regional Hospital, Memorial Regional Hospital South, Memorial Hospital Pembroke, Mariners Hospital, Jupiter Medical Center, St. Mary’s Medical Center, Boca Raton Community Hospital & Baptist Health. Key projects include:Memorial Rehabilitation Hospital, Hollywood, FL: phase creation of a rehab on the 4th-6th floors of Memorial Hospital South. One phase of construction included a Solarium addition to the hospital to create a natural light environment and horticultural activities for long-term patients.Memorial Regional Hospital Cancer Center, Hollywood, FL: over SF of oncology services. A new entrance and drop-off canopy to the hospital was created for this project. Services include medical follow-up, infusion therapy and radiation oncology.Joe DiMaggio Children\'s Hospital, Hollywood, FL: local architect 4-story children’s hospital with 48 private rooms and two family suites. The firm was responsible for the campus master planning, site plan approval, programming, campus master wayfinding program, and LEED AP Services (Gold).Family Birthplace at Memorial Regional Hospital, Hollywood, FL: renovation of 35,826 SF to create a new Family Birth Place, which includes a new security control area, pharmacy with USP 797 Clean Room, family room, visitors’ restroom, staff locker room, nurse education office, Birth Certificate office, and an additional holding nursery.
