Charles W. Melvin, Jr has the role of Chief Engineer with Booz Allen Hamilton in Warner Robins, Georgia. Charles’ passion is to identify opportunities and support customers by connecting the dots on capabilities that exists across the firm and to leverage these capabilities to provide cost-effective, high-value engineering that exceeds expectations. Charles focus is on providing engineering services in support of sustaining legacy avionics systems, performing aircraft modifications, energy infrastructure engineering and management services and engineering to mitigate supply-chain and DMSMS issues.Prior to joining Booz Allen, Charles served as the Chief Engineer of Electronics and Avionics at the Mercer Engineering Research Center located in Warner Robins, Georgia. As Chief Engineer of Electronics and Avionics Product Areas, Charles was involved in business pursuit, senior leadership, strategic planning and technical oversight for all Electronics, Avionics and Energy Systems programs.Charles has been engaged in the design and development of electronic hardware and software products from the start of his career in 1985. Prior to joining MERC, Charles served as the VP of Engineering and VP of Corporate Development for SmartSynch, Inc. and lead the effort for the expansion of secure wireless products for use in the Smart Grid automation. Charles’ background also includes work in the Aerospace sector where he was Chief Engineer, Electromechanical Products at Parker Aerospace in Dublin, Georgia and in several technology startup companies which have focused on Smart Grid automation, wireless and embedded systems product development. Charles began his career working in a startup company under the leadership of Dr. Ed Roberts, inventor of the first Personal Computer – The Altair 8800.Charles received his and from Mercer University in 1992 and respectively. Charles is a member of the (ISC)2 having earned the Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) credential. Charles is a multi-patent holder with patents issued for innovations in smart grid automation, utility metering and consumer electronics.
