ABOUT CHARLES HARRIS-COOKE
I work at the intersection of corporate affairs, policy, partnerships and strategy, helping senior leaders and businesses navigate complexity, make sound decisions under pressure, and build the external relationships and internal alignment needed to move forward with confidence. My background spans corporate affairs, public policy and strategic advisory roles across energy, transport and decarbonisation. Much of my work has focused on issues that are politically sensitive, commercially significant and reputationally exposed, where there is no obvious right answer and where judgement, credibility and clarity matter most.I specialise in translating complex regulatory, political and reputational challenges into clear strategic choices, and in helping organisations move from uncertainty to action. I am often at my best where situations are ambiguous, contested or fast-moving, and where progress depends on combining external insight, practical judgement, strong stakeholder relationships and clear communication.Examples of that in practice include:• Building cross-industry coalitions in a fragmented global aviation debate that helped support ICAO backing for net-zero by 2050 and a 2030 sustainable aviation fuel ambition.• Leading scenario planning and external insight during periods of acute geopolitical volatility to help senior leaders make clearer contingency choices under pressure.• Coordinating government, regulatory and communications engagement on a complex offshore wind divestment in a way that helped preserve trust and protect enterprise value.• Leading policy engagement on key market enablers as Shell expanded into EV charging, helping create conditions for growth and support the NewMotion acquisition.• Aligning business, policy and communications stakeholders behind practical positions where there was no natural consensus, improving coherence and execution.I am motivated by roles that sit in the connective tissue of an organisation: bringing together external insight, stakeholder judgement, narrative clarity and strategic thinking to help people and businesses move effectively on complex issues.
