   Charles De Sanno is responsible for Booz Allen’s health practice, leading all aspects of business management, systems engineering, AI/ML, cyber security, digital development and service delivery to the business’ new and existing clients.Based on considerations of value proposition and agility to market, he assesses candidate solution sets for innovative tendencies, and sunsets older methodologies and products. Charles also works to grow and advance the firm’s technology services with a focus on EHR, cyber security, mobility, government shared services, Agile, SecDevOps, and the cloud.Prior to joining Booz Allen, he served as Chief Operating Officer for information systems and global solutions at Lockheed Martin/Leidos Corp, overseeing a $1.5B business that included IT infrastructure, government corporate data centers, cloud solutions, and software development. He also served as senior vice president for the company’s engineering and technology innovation practice. Charles designed the VA’s new medical appointment scheduling system during his time at Lockheed Martin/Leidos, shrinking wait times and transforming how veterans access healthcare.Before his time at Lockheed Martin/Leidos, Charles served as executive director for enterprise systems engineering and IT operations at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Other executive positions he held during his 25 years at the agency include chief information officer for New York and New Jersey VA hospitals, as well as for the more than 40 medical centers and hundreds of clinics under the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic VA.His work for the VA included engineering and operating one of the world’s largest IT infrastructures, overseeing a multibillion-dollar budget, and managing a 6,300-employee IT workforce.In 2011 and 2012, Charles was honored with Federal 100 recognition awards for his VA work, including the development of a secure, cloud-based infrastructure for sharing medical data and improving veteran care.
