The Nursing Council was created at the request of the Massachusetts Healthcare collaborative convened by Governor Charlie Baker in 2019 to address critical shortages in the healthcare workforce, particularly in direct care. The NCWS focuses on the challenges faced by the states nursing workforce with the goal of improving the supply of nurses. The mission is to convene key stakeholders to provide innovative solutions, inform policy, and make evidence-based decisions that ensure health equity by building a resilient and sustainable nursing workforce focused on improving the health and well-being of the Commonwealth.
