ABOUT CHARISSA STUART
MBA educated, cross-asset investment banking professional, and subsequently trained and qualified as an English lawyer at Linklaters law firm in London. Eighteen years of investment banking experience consisting of eleven years as a fixed income and commodity sales execution trader and seven years as an equity derivatives trader. Clients included global asset managers, hedge funds, CTAs, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, pension funds, and central banks. Whilst in my investment banking role (on the business side), I worked closely with Morgan Stanley\'s in-house legal and my clients’ legal to ensure Dodd-Frank compliance with my traders and portfolio managers, which prompted a desire to pursue a law degree and career change to international commercial law. In 2014, I moved from New York to London to study law (LLB) at University College of London (ranked second for law following Cambridge). In 2015, I was recruited by Linklaters law firm and sponsored for the remaining part of my legal studies. I trained at Linklaters and qualified into the Financial Regulation Group at Linklaters. During my time practicing law at Linklaters, I completed two secondments (Goldman Sachs OTC Derivatives and BNP Paribas). In 2022, I joined Clifford Chance law firm in their Derivatives and Structured Products group to diversify my regulatory and compliance advisory experience from Linklaters, with technical work on transactional OTC derivatives and structured product matters. In 2024, I joined Caxton Associates, a macro global hedge fund, to gain experience as a Funds and Corporate lawyer. Education includes an MBA in Finance from New York University in 2004 (Honors) and BA with double major in Economics and Political Science from the University of Rhode Island in 1996 (Honors). I commenced my Law LLB studies at University College of London in 2014. After receiving training contract offers, Linklaters wanted me to transfer from University College of London to pursue a Graduate Degree of Law in 2015 (so I could start with Linklaters sooner). I completed my Graduate Degree of Law from BPP Law School in London in 2016 (Distinction). I then completed the Legal Practice Course from University of Law in London in 2017 (Distinction).
