Improving opportunities and quality of life for women and girls is at the heart of all my efforts, past, present, and planned for the future.Given my experiences as a refugee child and young woman, I cannot turn my eyes away from the conditions that continue to oppress so many, limiting the lives and expectations of countless young people who have been displaced and dispossessed. This is an emergency that I feel deeply and cannot fail to respond to with all the energy and resources I have access to. Refugee Can Be grew directly out of my own refugee experience and exposure to the plight of other girls and young women in similarly desperate circumstances.
