ABOUT CHANDON BEZUIDENHOUT

With more than 17 years’ experience in the mining and metals industry, I am passionate about innovation, technology, good design, and people. My core competencies include processing, research and development, business improvement project delivery, and innovation programme management. I have worked across multiple disciplines (operations, processing, research & development, business improvement, and innovation/technology development) across the global mining and metals industry (PGMs, nickel, copper, cobalt, iron ore, coal, diamonds). I hold a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Stellenbosch University, a master’s degree in chemical engineering from University of Cape Town, an MBA from Gordon Institute of Business Science, and professional certification from MIT xPRO in architecture of complex systems and systems engineering. My strengths are in strategic and conceptual thinking and ideation. I have solid site-based operational and technical experience in processing, refining, and innovation. I also appreciate the importance of good leadership, the broader ecosystem, its sustainability, and impacts on society and nature. I have led change programmes that aim to reposition operational delivery, enable value chain optimisation, and embed new ways of working. I have also led the conception, development, demonstration, and site-based implementation of new technologies within a large complex matrix structured organisation. In my current role I lead a team focused on the development of processing and circular technologies - built using modular principles.
