EOCP is Canada\'s First Water and Wastewater Facility Classification and Environmental Operator Certification Program. My responsibilities as a Technical Specialist include but are not limited to the following: 1. Facility Classifications: Review over 2,500 applications for facilities across British Columbia (BC) and Yukon (YK) of: • Water Distribution (WD) • Water Treatment (WT) • Wastewater Collection (WWC) • Wastewater Treatment (WWT) • Small Water Systems (SWS), and • Small Wastewater Systems (SWWS) 2. Certification/Classification Compliance Assessments: Oversee the Classification status of facilities and the Certification status of the Operators under the following regulations: • BC Drinking Water Protection Act • BC Drinking Water Protection Regulations • Water Sustainability Act • Water Sustainability Regulations • Yukon Public Health & Safety Act • Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines • BC Municipal Wastewater Regulations 3. Direct Responsible Charge Plans: Review Operator applications for DRC for WT, WWT, WWC, and WD facilities. Course/Instructor Review: Provide SME reviews for Courses/Instructors for Operators working in the Water and Wastewater industry. The EOCP\'s objective is to protect human health, the environment, and the investment in facilities through increased knowledge, skill, and proficiency of the Program members in all matters relating to water treatment and distribution and wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal.

ABOUT CHANDANA SUNDAR
An Engineer with a passion for Water and Wastewater, Chandana Sundar is currently the Technical Specialist working for Environmental Operators Certification Program. She holds a Master\'s degree in Environmental Engineering and a Baccalaureate in Chemical Engineering and has worked on multiple Research Projects on Wastewater Treatment. Her research includes work on VFAs (Volatile Fatty acids) and Partial/Full Nitrification of Ammonia. She also has exposure to the Leather industry and has worked on \'recovering and recycling salt from Tannery Wastewater.\' When not at work, Chandana is usually found foraging, bird watching, and hiking in the woods. As an avid nature lover, she also promotes nature and sustainability on social media through her photography and videography.
