Research Intern — L2M Rail Innovations Pvt. Ltd.(IISc Startup) Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (Formerly SID), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), IHub, Innovation Centre, Campus, near Maramma Circle, near J.N. Tata Auditorium, Bengaluru, Karnataka, Bangalore.[Month-June, Year-2025] – Present During my internship at L2M Rail Innovations Pvt. Ltd, an IISc Bangalore–based startup, I have been actively involved in the Machine Vision Inspection System (MVIS) project — an AI-driven solution for automated train inspection and safety monitoring. Technical Exposure:Gained hands-on experience with advanced computer vision and deep learning models such as YOLO, PaDiM, ResNet, and Detectron2 for defect detection and classification.Worked extensively on data segregation of good and bad images of springs and annotation for undercarriage components like axle, BMBS cylinder, short pushrod, coupler, yoke pin support plate, spring plank circle, SAB rod, and CBC operating handle. I had applied some techniques to improve the image quality of the undercarriage components.Performed data augmentation to enhance model training and testing performance. Field Experience:Visited the MVIS site installed near DDU Station, Uttar Pradesh, and gained practical insights into the real-world setup, structure, and monitoring process.I conducted monitoring using area-scan cameras to identify defects, such as hanging parts, missing springs, burnt-out EM pads, and open wagon doors.This internship has deepened my understanding of AI applications in railway safety systems, combining machine learning, image processing, and field implementation for intelligent infrastructure monitoring.
