kevin. was a Lithuanian fintech company building direct account-to-account payments infrastructure as a global alternative to traditional card networks, including Visa and Mastercard. Our goal was clear: to offer a more efficient, cost-effective and user-friendly payment solution that operated directly through bank accounts. Over several years, the team built and deployed technology whose technical capabilities matched — and in certain areas surpassed — those of established market leaders. This proved that meaningful competition with global payment giants is genuinely possible. The product worked, was live with partners, and was ready for international rollout. In 2024, the global fintech funding environment shifted significantly — funds substantially pulled back from long-horizon, capital-intensive projects, and their investors (LPs) began demanding shorter paths to return. In this environment, kevin. was unable to secure the next investment round required to continue scaling the product globally, and the company filed for bankruptcy. We are grateful to the entire team, our customers, partners and investors who were part of this journey. The technology and experience built remain proof that alternative payment solutions — ones that better serve both consumers and businesses — are not only possible, they are needed.
