Joined Milliman as an apprentice in September 2023; transitioned to a full-time AI Engineer in November 2024. I had the opportunity to work on multiple internal projects:SpreadsheetLLM Tool: Developed a tool inspired by a Microsoft research paper to extract tables from spreadsheets. Designed an advanced encoding method to overcome the token limit issue and applied techniques like Chain-of-Thought and Tree-of-Thought prompting to accurately detect table ranges and extract their content afterwards.Automated Slide Generation: Implemented a generative AI system to create slides with detailed financial data analysis, including charts and illustrations.Regulatory Chatbot Development: Built a chatbot capable of answering questions from regulatory documents. Used Meta’s Nougat model for document parsing, performed structured chunking, embedded content with OpenAI models, and generated responses. Evaluated the RAG pipeline using the RAGAS library on both human-labeled and AI-generated datasets.Internal Knowledge Chatbot: Designed a chatbot using retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), benchmarking multiple open-source models from Hugging Face and evaluating several PDF extraction libraries for optimal document parsing.Research on Layout and Table Extraction Models: Researched and benchmarked models such as Surya, LayoutLM, and Table Transformer to enhance document layout understanding and table extraction capabilities.Studied their performance specifically on our internal documents.As a consultant, collaborated on numerous external missions:Pipeline Optimization: Performed prompt tuning across multiple pipeline use cases to improve model accuracy. Explored and tested various evaluation methods to assess performance.Intent Generation: Generated intents for groups of similar clauses using advanced prompt engineering techniques. Evaluated model performance through multiple approaches, including the use of the technique LLM as a judge.
