The UK Astronomy Technology Centre (UK ATC) is the national centre for excellence in the development of scientific instrumentation for ground and space-based astronomical observatories. Based at UKATC, enhancing design freedom offered by additive manufacturing (AM) to build lightweight multifunctional mirror components for space telescopes. My role is to focus on supporting case studies that showcase the adoption of additive manufacturing to create lightweight, high quality, ground based and space qualified AM telescope components. This is achieved throughout:• Leading AM related research collaborations with multiple universities and research centres.• Successfully applying for AM research bids and managing them.• Creating and supporting a Design for AM (DfAM) learning environment with new recruits, project stakeholders, machinists (early in the project).• Presenting my group\'s research in academic conferences ASTM ICAM SPIE and network with players in the AM field in international conferences.
