Software development engineer on the team that develops and maintains the platform for end-to-end image, video and media management and delivery solutions for all Amazon websites, services, devices, and partner websites. Our teams services are distributed across of servers and serve billions of requests per day. Scoped, designed, and led implementation of an on demand image rendering service that renders all of Amazon retail images world wide and across all devices (Web, Mobile, Kindle, FireTV)- Scaled service to 3 billion requests per day over the course of one month while maintaining a p90 of 140ms per transaction - Modified custom image rendering libraries to deliver key features such as image compositing and unsharp masks - Mentored other engineers on image rendering techniques such that they were able to deliver key features with minimal guidance - Delivered presentation to 300 Amazon engineers on how to utilize the new service and optimize their images across devices and experiences - Deprecated 90% of the legacy service traffic within two months of launch - Developed non-blocking HTTP framework using epoll that can handle simultaneous connections - Developed load testing framework that ran automated comparison tests between services using a structural similarity algorithm to create a difference score - Designed and implemented two prototypes for a new image rendering service using OpenCV - Benchmarked performance of the prototypes against the current production environment Other Projects- Scoped, designed and implemented features for the new Amazon product video encoding platform including the front-end management system for vendor managers and the Video Encoding API and service - Led hardware scaling and planning effort for our team - Isolated and fixed issues with truncated content being served to our CDN partners from our origin - Created a new secure end-point to receive image uploads
