ABOUT CHAD YOSHINOBU
Who I am.My role is Principal and Design Director. As one of the founders of Gensler Seattle, I\'ve seen our office grow from 3 people to well over 130. Currently I have the great fortune to work borderlessly with Gensler individuals from Seattle, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, San Diego, and London. These people fuel my imagination and help transform our work. What we believe in. At Gensler we believe in the eco-system of Science Buildings, Commercial Office Buildings, Workplace Interiors, Residential, and Hospitality. We take the design learnings from each one to influence the other. So what does this do beyond sounding important? The remixing of sectors allows us to reinvent the product and spaces for our clients, to uncover what hasn\'t been done yet. Some have called our ideas fanatically purposeful, provocative, and wonder inducing. We also believe in being odd ducks. Each person in our Studio works on both architectural projects and interior projects. Not too many people can work on both architecture and interiors simultaneously. We are the epitome of inside out design vs outside in design. We don\'t design pretty architectural containers, then shoehorn in the interior functions, hoping that it works. The interior is what drives our architecture and not the other way around. This is our secret sauce. Who we attract. Gensler attracts clients who choose to go beyond the status quo. The ones who want to rethink their product in the market. The ones who want to distance themselves from the pack, who choose to use the vehicle of the built environment to help their people perform better than they did before. Our clients are local to national, 500 SF to 4 million SF. Some clients include Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Lane Partners, Sidewalk Labs, Patrinely Group, citizenM Hotels, DA LI, Adobe, Redfin, AI2, Pivotal, Onelin, and The Collective. Enormous diversity. During my 29-year career at Gensler, my clients’ work has been published in Fast Company, Frame, Interior Design, and many local publications, and has received design awards from the AIA, IIDA, ICSC, and NAIOP.
