About Chad Carnevale

My current role at ASML requires me to build and manage a high performing team of very diverse and talented mechanical design engineers. This team designs complex hardware to enable the creation of EUV light in a vacuum/plasma environment for the purpose of delivering patterns of semi-conductors on silicon wafers. My focus is to foster a collaborative team environment to bring to market the highest quality and functionality while moving at a pace that is fast enough to stay ahead of market and technology demands. Balancing these opposing goals is handled by assessing and documenting risk, moving quickly to detailed analysis and prototypes and pulling from the lessons learned on previous systems. On the technical side I am a subject matter expert in welding, materials selection and design for manufacturability (DfM) and look to help my team of engineers design products that are cost effective to create and assemble. I am a certified welder and understand the complexities and nuance behind designing and annotating welded joints. I speak the languages of ISO, AWS and ASME and always look for best practice to drive component quality.To help drive quality, I assess any competence gaps within the team and fill these with training that has been curated from existing sources, as well as training that I have created personally. To help drive the development of my team members, I elect competence mirrors to spread this knowledge and training to our immediate team, as well as peripheral mechanical teams for development of our entire cluster.I lead my team with a high level of empathy and hands-on support, but require accountability and full ownership of deliverables.
