ABOUT CHACE CLABORN
As a Manufacturing Process Engineer II at Blue Origin, I work within the machine shop to develop, improve, and design processes for CNC Machining & Programming in a high-production environment. I am passionate about the mission of getting to space with Blue! My background includes experience in manufacturing and engineering and I graduated from Auburn University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering. I want to continue to grow in manufacturing and get hands-on experience but I also have a passion for design engineering and coding. Below is my experience detailed more in-depth. At Auburn, I learned engineering fundamentals and interacted with manual machines and 3d printers. I employed my first application of engineering concepts to my Senior Design project of tracking 40mm projectiles and other projects as a research assistant that progressed my programming skills in MATLAB and Python. Additionally, through an internship at Aerojet Rocketdyne, I gained experience in field support and test engineering by performing hardware tests and checks on rocket engines such as the RL10 and the RS-68A at the United Launch Alliance. My manufacturing experience began by interning for several companies in the steel manufacturing industry, where I learned how to use CNC mills and lathes, GD & T controls, PolyWorks script-writing software for CMMs, and formal report and SOP writing. At Blue Origin, I am progressing my manufacturing journey by working in a cutting-edge machine shop where I have learned about various CNC machines and their capabilities, modeling and drafting in Creo Parametric and its connection with Windchill\'s PLM, fixture design, cutting tool selection and design, internal MRP software, quality assurance with QMS software, PM tools such as JIRA ITS, Siemens CNC systems, utilizing LEAN and 5S manufacturing principles, 3D Printing, and so much more.Outside of work, I am currently working on developing my coding skills in MATLAB, Python, SQL, HTML, and CSS. I am learning to use tools such as Git, Github, and AI to store my ideas, collaborate with others at work and for personal projects, and accelerate learning and make my life easier. I hope to continue to grow to a professional level in programming!
