About Caleb Silver
I\'m a philosophy and mathematics student who treats every other discipline I touch as applied philosophy. Finance is philosophy about how institutions value what they can\'t see. AI is philosophy about how minds we don\'t understand make decisions we can\'t audit. The tools change. The questions don\'t.Right now I\'m working three versions of the same question. I\'m consulting for the VP and SVP of Finance at Aparium Hotel Group, building an automated Excel-to-Oracle pipeline and AI-driven forecasting tools across their eight-property portfolio — figuring out what a hotel company actually knows about itself when the data is spread across eight buildings and nobody trusts the spreadsheets. I\'m co-founding Chariot Archive, a cross-border commerce platform launching Ghana-based fashion brands into the U.S. this May — figuring out what a brand is worth when it crosses an ocean. And I\'m contributing research to a forthcoming book with Dr. Garrett Thomson on international political economy, examining the conceptual distinction between \"state\" and \"government\" through analytic philosophy — figuring out what a country is before you try to do anything with one.Before this, I co-managed a $15M investment fund returning 16% YoY, co-authored a paper in the Journal of Biological Chemistry on LSD and TrkB-mediated neuroplasticity, TA\'d philosophy at the College of Wooster, and placed at an international piano festival in Poland. I\'ve never been especially interested in the difference between a humanities person and a quant.
