ABOUT JULIO CESAR SILGUERO
I build things that have to work — not just look good on paper. I\'m a Mechanical Engineering student at UT Austin working across three technical environments at once: designing vacuum-compatible components for ion milling systems at the Texas Materials Institute, optimizing suspension and handling as an R&D Dynamics Engineer on Longhorn Baja SAE, and integrating complex subsystems on an electrified Cadillac Lyriq with UT EcoCAR. What ties all of it together is systems thinking — understanding how mechanical, electrical, and software decisions interact, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks when they do. I\'m comfortable working in ambiguous early-stage problems, translating requirements into CAD models, and collaborating across teams that don\'t always speak the same technical language. On the tools side: SolidWorks, CAD, Python, 3D printing, and hands-on fabrication. I\'m machine shop and woodshop certified, and I\'ve worked with high-vacuum sealing constraints and precision tolerances — the kind of work where getting it wrong isn\'t an option. I\'m targeting Summer 2026 internships in mechanical, hardware, or systems engineering at companies building products that push what\'s physically possible — think EVs, consumer hardware, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing. If you\'re working on something like that, I\'d like to hear about it. Reach me at c••••••••@utexas.edu or connect here on LinkedIn.
