WORK HISTORY
Resettlement Expert @Unhcr, The Un Refugee Agency
MX
I am currently working as Resettlement Expert, seconded by the ICMC (International Catholic Migration Commission) to UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) Mexico Resettlement Team (RST). My responsibilities include- Reviewing the pre-eligibility reports put together by RST colleagues following a preliminary interview, in order to assess whether the cases are suitable for advancing in the RST process and be considered for submission- INTERVIEWING FOR RESETTLEMENT: this is the most prominent part of my work. I carry out combined RSD and Resettlement interviews, aimed at analysing the proposed cases\' profiles who have passed the preliminary phase, in a view to submit them to RST countries. The interviewees are typically asylum-seekers and refugees from Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and Venezuela, currently residing in Mexico. The interviews are in-depth, encompassing all aspects of the beneficiaries\' lives, guiding them in the articulation of their asylum claim and Resettlement needs- RRF WRITING: The last phase of my work includes the drafting of Resettlement Refugee Forms (RRFs), which are supposed to be submitted to Resettlement countries (primarily Australia, Canada, and USA), following review by the Panama Regional Bureau. The RRF reflect the information yielded by RST interviews, namely: refugee background, asylum claim, legal analysis of claim, articulation of Resettlement needs, indication of the level of priority, indication of primary and secondary Resettlement Categories, according to UNHCR\'s RSD and RST Handbooks.
