ABOUT CERYS HUMPHREYS

I love working with a variety of people to accomplish a shared goal. Whether it be mobilizing a group of English teachers to share best practices in the pursuit of continued professional development or bringing clean water infrastructure to a rural village – thus improving the lives of thousands of community members – I can’t help but see the value in the interpersonal connections and working relationships that are formed through building mutual trust and respect. I have enjoyed many successes on a variety of projects while serving as an educator for Peace Corps Namibia. My personal and professional experiences have taught me the following about myself: I have the ability to work both collaboratively and independently with little external guidance - My openness to new perspectives allows me to meet potential conflicts with curiosity and understanding - My interpersonal skills allow me to work with a range of personalities in unfamiliar environments - I am driven by excellence and will put in the time and effort to deliver results I love working with children, especially those who need extra support - I can establish authority and command a class of 40+ students with ease - I can create a safe learning environment in an education system where safety is often overlooked - I have a passion for empowering youth to have agency in their lives and to make informed decisions about their futures - I am not afraid to discuss sensitive topics such as SRH or drug and alcohol abuse I am constantly using a growth mindset in seeking to become a better person - I am always working to improve because I never settle - I can stay calm in the face of adversity - I welcome challenging opportunities as a catalyst of personal and professional growth I enjoy meeting and learning from new people.
