About Ken Rose

Mr. Rose serves as Chief of the Physical Activity and Health Branch in the Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity where he oversees national efforts to increase physical activity. In this role, he leads Active People, Healthy Nation, Creating an Active America, Together. Created in 2019, this initiative aims to help 27 million Americans become more physically active by 2027. He is also a senior subject matter expert in physical activity and health serving a number of advisory roles. He has leadership experience at every level in the agency working in a range of leadership policy roles. He is also skilled in health communications, public health emergency management, and public health policy. He holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in Public Policy Analysis from University of Alabama at Birmingham and Bachelors of Arts in International Trade from Auburn University. He started at the U.S. CDC as a Presidential Management Fellow in 1997.

   Leads the Physical Activity and Health Program at CDC and the Active People, Healthy Nation Initiative to help 27 million more Americans become more physically active by 2027. This program produces influential physical activity science to better understand the population impacts of increased physical activity, supports strategies for activity friendly communities by translating the latest science for use in the field, and builds synergy with other federal agencies and national organizations that support physical activity.
