Responsibilities: • Member of the Consul Service Mesh team with a primary focus on Kubernetes • Adding features and fixing bugs across several Open Source repositories using Golang • Writing unit and acceptance tests in Golang; maintaining CI pipelines. • Updating and maintaining the Consul on Kubernetes Helm chart • Mentoring team members Projects: • Designed and implemented a major project for the Container Networking Interface (CNI) plugin for Kubernetes that allows for secure traffic redirection. Let\'s try something different… I am not a huge fan of resumes. The standard format of listing buzz words doesn\'t capture the essence of who I am or could potentially be as a co-worker. Yes, I have more than 20 years of experience with many programming languages, tools and operating systems but should that be the most important quality that defines my experience? I believe that how people rely on me, come to me for help and trust me with responsibilities shows what kind of employee I am. There are several things I do to maintain a high level of reliability and trust between myself and my colleagues such as: • I strive to be a good engineer, write clean code and treat my work as craft. • I give advice on simple system design that will work for a long time. • I\'ve spent countless late nights fixing broken systems; not because it is my job but because I care about the people that have to get their work done the next morning. • Half jokingly, I have been trying to automate myself out of my job but no matter what I automate there always seems to be more to do. • Colleagues often come to me with issues which land outside of my role. I do my best to help them find an answer. I may not have the answer but I will listen and work through the problem with them. • When it comes to formulating the “big ideas and plans” my experience and guidance is often sought out.
