ABOUT CHRIS HEANEY

I recently witnessed the sheer frustration and sadness endured by a family member who had seemingly lost a significant amount of money to a cyber-criminal venture. The helplessness that this person faced was heart-breaking. Thankfully being able to assist I stepped in to help ensure that the money was returned by her bank with proof of good cyber hygiene and due diligence. However even so this was a struggle, with blame being the main issue. A victim being made to feel like they were the criminal. After this, I made the decision to fully move into Infosec. Current Certified training combined with my 20+ years of experience in the IT field in a variety of roles ranging from support to team management means I now look to put my skills to use in making a positive difference in the field that there is much to be passionate about.I pride myself on engagement with stakeholders at all levels, ensuring education and understanding of the massive problems that businesses face keeping their own and customer data safe from those who wish to do harm.Technical professionals need to look at what they can do to help from the ground up.My passion is to do good and ensure that Cyberspace is a safer place for both our elders and the younger generations who will inherit the amazing opportunities that the online landscape can bring. Taking pride in giving subtle guidance, dispelling fear and myths propagated about the wonderful technologies available to us should be the duty of every infosec professional and it is something that I take great pride in both personally and professionally.
