ABOUT CELESTE BERTEAU
Prior to joining The Promise Scotland, I was an Evidence and Influencing Coordinator at the Life Changes Trust\'s Young People with Care Experience programme. In this role I was responsible for managing external evaluation contracts, developing and maintaining the programme\'s evidence base; and thinking creatively about how to use our learning from the last 9 years to make transformative, sustainable changes for our beneficiary groups. It has been a privilege to work for an organisation that was committed to continuous learning and improvement, for both themselves and those we funded. I\'m also very fortunate to have spent six years working for an organisation that believes as strongly as I do that every voice is worth being heard. A former teacher who is an evaluation and data nerd, I switched careers into Social Research in the fall of 2014. I graduated in November of 2015 with a Master\'s (MSc) in Social Research from the University of Edinburgh. My degree included coursework in Research Design, Data Collection, Data Analysis, Inferential Statistics, and Evaluation Research. My dissertation project was an evaluation of a local Youth Centre\'s Family Support program. The findings of and recommendations from this evaluation led to the securement of three years of increased funding for the project. When I found that it was time to move on from my teaching career, I wanted to stick with my passion for helping children and young people overcome barriers and meet their potential. I want to help good people do great things for children and young people, and I believe I can do so by applying my expertise in the field of teaching and education to the role of research and data analysis. In the future, I hope to follow both of my passions to work in systems change within education and social care.
