ABOUT CAWAS COOPER

Dr. Cawas Cooper is a chemical engineer and has over 35 years of industrial experience in project management, process synthesis, research, development, scale-up, process demonstration, engineering, design, optimization, technology transfer, and commercialization. Dr. Cooper joined Codexis in 2011 and has held positions of Senior Project Manager and Senior Manager, Process Engineering in the company. Recent projects involved enzymes and biochemicals production for detergent alcohols, biofuels, fine chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. Before Codexis, he spent majority of his career at Air Products where he successfully scaled up and scaled down catalytic and non-catalytic processes related to the Energy and Specialty/Commodity Chemicals. His expertise is in the fields of gas/liquid separations, catalysis, reaction engineering, mass transfer, kinetics, batch/continuous processes, purification, and thermochemical reactions. He has numerous publications and four issued patents. He was a Technical Editor and Project Manager for three reports by The Catalyst Group. In addition to being a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), he is also a Founding member and a past National Chair of the Process Development Division. In 2013, he was a Meeting Programming Co-Chair for the Annual AIChE meeting in San Francisco involving ~750 technical sessions. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer in PA.
