ABOUT CAVAN SCOTT

I’m a New York Times bestselling author, comic creator, screenwriter and narrative strategist specialising in worldbuilding, IP development, and cross-platform storytelling.Across 25 years in the creative industries, I’ve helped studios, publishers, and production companies develop new worlds, strengthen existing franchises, and craft stories that work across comics, novels, audio drama, games, and television.I am one of the co-creators of Star Wars: The High Republic — a multi-year, multi-format publishing initiative for Lucasfilm. Working as part of the original story group, I helped build the era’s core mythology and narrative architecture, contributing across novels, comics, audio dramas, short fiction, and story development. This experience has shaped my approach to large-scale worldbuilding, long-form narrative planning, and cohesive storytelling across multiple platforms.As co-founder of Strange Matter Media, I partner with writer George Mann to provide IP development, narrative consulting, worldbuilding architecture, and transmedia strategy for companies building new or expanding story universes. Together, we’ve collaborated with major US studios on worldbuilding, original IP creation, and series development for television, animation, audio, and games. Universes I have contributed to include Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Marvel, DC, Back to the Future, Transformers, Assassin’s Creed, Pathfinder and Ghostbusters. Beyond franchise work, I continue to build original creator-owned IP, including Shadow Service, The Ward, Dead Seas, Sleep Terrors, Night of the Slashers, Godfather of Hell, and the alt-history toyline/comic universe Monster Mechas.I also speak and teach on worldbuilding, narrative design, and franchise writing, supporting emerging creators through workshops, mentorship, and guest lecturing.If you’re developing an IP, building a fictional world, or need narrative clarity across formats, I’d love to connect.
