I believe authentic communicators have the power to make a difference in people’s lives and in the world.Returning to Mid-Atlantic as Vice-President, Public & Government Affairs, I speak for the organization as the motorist’s voice on transportation issues, highway safety, travel and mobility issues that affect everyone who shares the road.I create strategic communications plans that ease the flow of information between our organization, its members, policymakers, the media and various targeted audiences. I engage in discussions on timely issues of importance with community, business and government leaders and help shape public events, news conferences, and media interactions, with subject area experts.

ABOUT CATHY ROSSI
As Mid-Atlantic’s voice, I share its stories. I love how well-said words can change lives, but at we also save lives. For over 100 years, has served its members on the road and, most recently, online. I started at Mid-Atlantic as a public affairs manager before being asked to return as Vice President of Public and Government Affairs. Now, I lead the charge for safety and transportation policies that benefit all of us who share the road. The groundbreaking work that is doing in cognitive distractions will help us be safer in our vehicles as cars become computers on wheels. I began my career as a radio and television reporter, learning how to develop and send the right message at the right time. That skill made all the difference in developing proactive communications strategies for leaders and executives. One experience in particular shaped my work today. The years I spent as Director of Communications for the Philadelphia Archdiocese were among the most rewarding and most challenging. When it came to light that some of our priests had abused children, I knew we had to do the right thing and talk publicly about the issue. I raised difficult questions and convinced powerful leaders of the church to disclose to the media what had taken place. None of it was easy and none of it was perfect and I lived through some valuable lessons about leadership, transparency and grace. I also had the privilege of serving Governor Markell of Delaware as his communications director. As spokesperson and advisor, I worked with the governor to help him get messages out on issues of importance to Delawareans and managed his relationships with the media and public and government officials. I use my communication and leadership skills to promote causes close to my heart, such as the Alzheimer’s Association and mentoring young people to help them find their unique talents. Courage has helped me succeed, but it’s my faith that is my reservoir of strength.
