ABOUT CATHY PROVENCHER

I have proudly served for almost 40 years in public service to NH, currently serving as the Chancellor of the University System of New Hampshire (USNH). In this role, I closely collaborate with the presidents of Keene State College, Plymouth State University, the University of New Hampshire, the USNH board of trustees and a multitude of stakeholders delivering on the mission to provide quality educational opportunities that are affordable and accessible with strong outcomes for our students and for the NH economy. I have been with USNH for over ten years, serving as Vice Chancellor of Financial Affairs before being named Chancellor in July 2024. As Chancellor, I lead a team of 300 overseeing a broad spectrum of administrative, technology and financial shared services across USNH, including enterprise technology, legal, human resources and payroll, accounting, investment and debt management, and more.Prior joining USNH in 2014, I served in New Hampshire State government for a total of 29 years. This included 7 years as NH State Treasurer and years before that as its Director of State Audits. During my time in NH State service, I dedicated my career to providing fact-based, non-partisan guidance to executive leaders, legislators, and stakeholders to support informed decision-making and sound financial governance.I am passionate about the amazing quality of life we enjoy in the Granite State. Being a small part of educating our citizenry and bolstering our economy makes the hard work extremely meaningful.
