ABOUT CATHY HILLMAN
During my tenure as President of United Nations Women LA, my central objective was to catalyze positive change in lives, both within our local community and on a global scale. We achieved this goal through extensive knowledge sharing, focusing particularly on gender and social equity, safety, resilience and wellbeing. I curated numerous public forums, workshops and experiences focusing on belonging, safety, sustainability and equity in workplace and urban environments. All featuring thought leaders from various interconnected professions. Over a decade, we effectively engaged caring community members who were eager to reflect upon and collaboratively address real-world challenges. Our efforts nurtured individuals into empowered leaders and active contributors locally and to the broader global community. Currently, I am deeply committed to life-centered design and its transformative role in creating humane, livable communities. My focus is on building inspiring partnerships, cultivating meaningful experiences, and designing welcoming, walkable spaces. I am dedicated to advancing the interconnected causes of belonging, people-friendly sidewalks and streets, urban greening, resilience, and social flourishing. By bringing attention to the often-overlooked relationship between these elements, I aim to foster environments where design serves people, communities and planet.I hold qualifications in international management, spatial/interior design, and architecture. Skilled as a creative urban strategist and a project catalyst for purposeful change. I bring a wealth of experience to intricate and multifaceted projects and programs.Core values include trust, collaboration, active listening, reciprocal enthusiasm and shared-vision amongst cross-functional teams and stakeholders.Talks about #belonging,#community #design,#equityandart-activation #gender-mainstreaming #genderinformed/sensitive-planning #greenspace,#greenwalls #humanrights #inclusivity #mobility #neighborhoods #placemaking #publicspace #resilience #safecities #SDGs #sidewalk-activation #sustainability #urbanism #urbangreening #walkability #womensrights
