About Cathony R.

As a Health Program Specialist at the National Institute on Aging (NIA), I work in the Division of Behavioral and Social Research (DBSR) to support research projects that address the social determinants of health among older adults. I have a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree in progress, with a focus on health equity, and a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) credential that demonstrates my competency in planning, implementing, and evaluating health education programs.With over five years of experience in public health, I have developed skills in project management, data analysis, and communication. I have worked as a Public Health Advisor at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where I was a project officer in the National Center of Injury Prevention and Control, and as an Adjunct Professor at Southern New Hampshire University, where I currently teach Intro to Epidemiology to undergrad students. My topical areas of interest include HIV/AIDS, infectious disease, maternal and child health, and promotion and disease prevention. I am passionate about improving the health and well-being of diverse and underserved populations, especially older adults, through evidence-based and culturally responsive interventions.
