ABOUT CATHERINE TREYZ
A former White House and Capitol Hill editor at CNN, I’m now Head of Corporate Communications at GetYourGuide in Berlin, where I help shape and share the company’s story with audiences around the world. Before joining GetYourGuide, I spent four years at Cherry Ventures — one of Europe’s leading early-stage venture capital firms — where I built the communications, platform, and brand functions from the ground up.Prior to all that, I was a journalist. In Germany, I reported and edited for outlets including Deutsche Presse-Agentur, Wise (formerly TransferWise), and Sifted, the Financial Times–backed publication dedicated to European tech. Earlier, at CNN in Washington, I oversaw White House and Capitol Hill coverage and received special authorization to write, edit, and distribute real-time alerts and analyses on US and international breaking news to CNN platforms worldwide.I first came to Germany as a Fulbright scholar in 2018, one of five Young Professional Journalist grantees selected to conduct independent research. With support from the German Federal Foreign Office and US State Department, I explored how museums, institutions, and news media in the Bundesrepublik identify and address looted art and artifacts — a topic I continue to explore in my spare time. This path has rather naturally led to a deeper engagement (and interest) in transatlantic exchange. In 2022, I was invited by the US State Department to participate in the inaugural US–German Futures Forum (Zukunftsforum) alongside Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock. Two years later, I was named one of Atlantik-Brücke’s Young Leaders. In parallel, I\'ve stayed close to the Fulbright Commission, supporting related initiatives past my fellowship. These experiences deepened my commitment to strengthening transatlantic ties — particularly between the US and Germany — through the lenses of media, communications, and business. These experiences, along with my professional path, have fueled my curiosity about how technology is reshaping communication — especially in the face of misinformation and disinformation. I’m keen to keep exploring how we can strengthen trust and truth in the digital age and would love to expand my network here.
