ABOUT CATHERINE TRANFIELD

Aspiring crypto-analyst/coder/digital marketer.I am a firm believer in self development, which is why I am greatly interested in the progression of technology over the years. Both the media and technology industries are changing rapidly, encouraging their workers to be flexible and alert, prepared for each new development. Whilst working with the BBC Youth Panel on their latest project, Mixital 1Xtra, I developed self-taught graphic design skills: although I had limited experience of Photoshop, I was able to complete our visual asset pack and also produce a short pitch alongside my teammates in order to promote our idea, which actually proved successful, being appropriate for the comedic feel of the app. I have been able to analyse a design brief and produce the required result, by carefully considering all options/styles available - e.g. a video game/collage/comic book style - and producing prototype assets in each style, as well as customised backgrounds in the urbanised theme of 1Xtra. Through this placement, I have furthered my knowledge of website development, colour theory and graphic design.
