About Catherine B. Bell

Catherine B. Bell joined the State Agencies Division of the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office after a thirteen year career practicing workers’ compensation and insurance defense as a member with a regional firm. In private practice, she advocated on behalf of employers, carriers, and self insured groups. Catherine was named as a Best Lawyer in America from 2019 until 2022 for workers’ compensation law, employers and as a Mid-South Super Lawyer “Rising Star” for both insurance coverage and workers compensation, employers. She is admitted to practice in both Mississippi state and federal courts, as well as the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is very active in many legal associations and her community. Catherine graduated magna cum laude from Mississippi State University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education- English. Following her undergraduate career, she attended the University of Mississippi School of Law graduating magna cum laude and earning her J.D. in 2010. While attending law school, Catherine was the Associate Articles Editor for the Mississippi Law Journal. She was also the winner of an American Jurisprudence Award for Labor and Employment Law. A native of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Catherine currently lives in Madison with her husband Bucky and two children.
