ABOUT CATHERINE SIMPSON

I am a Senior Associate Solicitor at Anthony Collins Solicitors LLP, based in the Manchester office, having previously been in the same position at Trowers & Hamlins LLP. I specialise in advising housing associations and charities both in England and Wales on governance, corporate and regulatorymatters, in the differing English and Welsh contexts. My experience includes advising clients on constitutional and governance issues, rule changes, governance reviews, payment of board members, group structures and regulatory compliance. I have also advised on transfers of engagements, mergers and restructures, setting up non-charitable subsidiaries (to carry out non-charitable commercial activity), conversions, charity law, vires and governance related policy drafting.I played a key role in the work relating to setting up a number of English and WelshLSVT organisations and the transfers of the relevant Council\'s housing stock. Board Member - I am on the board of Women in Social Housing Wales. Women in Social Housing support and connect women who work in and with the housing sector by running events where they can learn, network and share professional practice and experiences. I was one of the authors who contributed to the Handbook of Co-operative and Community Benefit Society Law published in 2015, edited by Ian Snaith. This is the leading text book on law relating to registered community benefit societies. Many RSLs in Wales and RPs in England are constituted as community benefit societies.As part of my role at work I have been a trainee supervisor and have previously managed junior solicitors and a team paralegal.
