ABOUT CATHERINE JOE ABRAHAM

I am a Criminology student at Douglas College (Graduation by 2026) with a rare combination of academic and professional experience bridging science, law, and community service. Before pursuing criminology, I graduated with 97% in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics, building a foundation in scientific reasoning that I now apply to the study of criminal justice and law enforcement. I am also a recipient of the Dr. Guangwei Ouyang International Education Entrance Scholarship, awarded for academic excellence and leadership.My role as a Sterilization Assistant at the Vancouver College of Dental Hygiene sharpens my attention to detail, safety standards, and precision under pressure skills that are equally essential in criminal justice and forensic contexts. At the same time, my volunteer role with the Mount Pleasant Community Policing Centre allows me to engage directly with community safety, outreach, and incident response, giving me first-hand exposure to the realities of policing.I have also developed professional versatility through roles in administration, customer service, and operations management, experiences that strengthened my leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.In addition, I bring experience as a Support Worker in community care and mental health settings, where I provided frontline support to vulnerable populations, promoted inclusion, and helped improve overall well-being. This role deepened my commitment to justice that is not only effective but also compassionate and human-centered.My long-term goal is to carve out a career that merges my scientific background with criminology to contribute to evidence-based justice and safer communities.
