ABOUT CATHARINE BASTY

I’m a biotechnology postgraduate with a strong foundation in molecular biology, microbiology, and cell biology and a strong research foundation and a deep-seated passion for neuroscience. Currently, I lead the pet nutrition division in an R&D department — where I manage everything from product formulation and freeze-drying to sample coordination, costing, and sensory/QC evaluations. It’s a hands-on, fast-paced role that has sharpened my skills in experimentation, documentation, and cross-functional communication. But my journey doesn’t stop here. My long-term goal is to transition into neuroscience — particularly in research areas involving neurodegeneration, translational biology, and brain–gut interactions. I\'m actively seeking opportunities that help bridge this shift: research internships, clinical fellowships, and interdisciplinary programs that allow me to grow in both lab technique and analytical depth and also seeking opportunities for fully funded PhD programs that will allow me to deepen my research focus in neuroscience. With a strong commitment to continuous learning and a genuine desire to contribute to impactful science, I’m excited to collaborate on research that bridges disciplines and drives meaningful discoveries in brain health, cognition, and neurobiology.
