ABOUT CAT SCALESIA
I’m a trainee Counsellor and Psychotherapist, currently studying for a PGDip in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of South Wales. With over eight years of experience in mental health support, I bring a compassionate, person-centred, and trauma-informed approach to everything I do.Alongside my studies, I work as a Wellbeing Intervention Practitioner at Codi, supporting colleagues to look after their mental health and wellbeing through bespoke intervention, reflective spaces, workshops, drop-ins, and awareness initiatives. This role allows me to blend my counselling training with my natural empathy, curiosity, and belief in the power of safe, supportive connection.Previously, I worked as a Senior Specialist Bereavement Worker with the Beside Project at Second Step, supporting people bereaved by suicide. Before that, as a Senior Recovery Navigator in primary care, I helped individuals manage complex mental health difficulties, specialising in crisis de-escalation, emotional regulation, and collaborative care.I’ve supported people experiencing a wide range of challenges - including anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, schizophrenia, personality disorders, and complex grief, often relying on DBT-informed techniques to foster resilience, self-awareness, and mindful coping.I’m passionate about the Psychological, Adversity, and Trauma-Informed (PAT) approach and aim to create spaces where people feel heard, respected, and empowered in their journey toward healing.
