ABOUT CATERINA RIGHETTO

I am a BSc Earth and Environmental Science graduate student from Lancaster University. I have an excellent work ethic and motivation towards improving my skills and enhancing my environmental science knowledge. I am looking for work in graduate positions for environmental consulting agencies, with practical projects applied to real-world problems. I am keen to undertake the work experience and/or research projects to help industries and companies to become more sustainable and to reduce their environmental impacts to the hydrosphere, atmosphere and the surrounding environment. My main interest is the environment sector, specifically in-bioremediation of contaminated land and waters -renewable energies -helping companies to decrease their environmental impacts - sustainable agriculture My bachelor thesis involved the use of bacteria to reduce the concentration of heavy metals in waters. The reduction of heavy metals from waters is applicable to industrial and urban waste waters treatments. I traveled and lived in multiple countries among which there are the USA (where I studied one year in high school), the UK (where I went to university) and Japan (where I spent 3 summer months to do lab research for my university thesis). During my experiences abroad, I had the opportunity to improve my English language up to a bilingual level. I also learnt to be flexible and to adapt to the surrounding conditions, cultures and people, which made me able to engage well even in new circumstances in a short time. I am a very active person and I always try to keep myself busy with things I like. In my free time, I like to- do outdoor activities. I really enjoy spending time nearby the water. I spend much time kayaking in lakes, rivers and on the sea. Kayaking has always been my main hobby. I like kayaking alone in the wild nature, but I am also involved in canoe polo championships as I also like being part of a team and competing with other people- explore new cooking recipes with the use of local ingredients. I am always trying new recipes and combinations of ingredients, spices and herbs. I like to share the food I make with my family and friends, often at kayaking events-travelling and exploring new outdoor places. I enjoy the wild nature and prefer it to city-touring.
