Assisting students of all ages (from elementary school age to middle-aged adults returning to college) with completing course work, learning new concepts, developing strong reading and study skills, and writing papers. • Providing specialized support, such as HISET prep, SAT prep, college-essay writing help, and phonics practice. • Developing students’ executive functioning skills, such as organization, time management, task initiation, sustained attention, and emotional regulation; rather than using a one-size-fits all model, prioritizing self-acceptance, self-advocacy, and individuated brain-hacks.• Working with marginalized students, including previously incarcerated, expelled/suspended, disabled, and low-income kids and adults. • Working with neurodivergent students, providing neurodivergent-affirming support for symptoms associated with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, depression, OCD, and PTSD/Trauma.• Differentiating academic curriculum based on learning differences and students’ special interests; differentiating learning material across multiple subject areas, specializing in the social sciences.• Building trusting relationships with students who have had negative school experiences and fostering a sense of safety amidst their ongoing academic, personal, and family challenges. • Communicating with parents, guardians, and caregivers in a sensitive and timely manner; accommodating each family’s unique scheduling needs. • Integrating art, social justice, and experiential learning techniques into tutoring sessions. • Staying up to date on the latest research on autism, ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD/Trauma, and other conditions impacting my students and their learning.
