ABOUT CASTLE WILLIAMSBERG

In my current role, I lead office-wide, cross-divisional initiatives that strengthen the transition of social, behavioral, and economic science research into operational practice and real-world impact. Leveraging my social science expertise, I design portfolio analysis, evaluation, and data-tracking systems that connect research investments across programs, transforming project metadata into actionable insights that reveal gaps, inform strategy, and support organizational decision-making.Drawing from my firsthand experience with the NOAA grant process and research transitions as an academic researcher, I bring deep expertise and a passion for improving the research transition process, helping researchers translate their findings into practice.I received a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Georgia in 2020. My dissertation examined the role of visual design in keeping weather-related messages \'consistent.\' Put simply, I ask: if all sources of weather information use the same forecast, but entirely different visual designs, does this change the consistency of the message? To explore this provocative question in the context of weather communication, my dissertation proposes the first empirical examination of \'message consistency\' that seeks to evaluate the importance of having a \'consistent\' visual design when communicating weather-related risk, uncertainty, and probabilistic information.
