About Cassie K.

For much of my early life, I never believed I would end up working in the technical field. In fact, computer science didn\'t even interest me until just before I began college. I thought that I wanted to study something in medicine, but changed my major less than a month before courses were set to begin. I decided I would try an introductory Java course to see if coding would pique my interest, given that I loved creating. Even though I was one of only a handful of women in the class of 300+ people, I fell in love with software development from the moment I completed my first assignment. It was so satisfying to see that I wrote my own code that actually worked!Fast forward four years and I graduated at ASU with a double major in computer science and psychology. I made the most of the experience by embarking on two study abroad programs: a month in Australia and a semester exchange program at NUS. I completed two internships: one with a Python focus for the mobile team at American Express, and one for embedded C++ systems at Garmin. I also got to share my passion for coding and serve as an example for freshman college students with multiple teaching assistant positions. I even had a student reach out to me saying that I inspired her to pursue something in the field!That passion for learning new technologies has continued today, as I search for full stack development roles. I love when I can actually see changes I\'ve made on the front end, while optimizing efficiency on the back end. In my most recent software development role, I worked with Java on the back end and React TypeScript on the front end. I\'m also open to learning new full stack technologies, or branching off to something with artificial intelligence or augmented reality. The ultimate goal is to create a positive impact on my community with my contributions:)
