About Chris Assenza

I currently work at Amazon as an SDM in the Defensive Security organization, building solutions to support security incident response in Amazon\'s retail business. Overall, I have over 23 years of professional experience delivering software both in a start-up environment and large corporate environment, primarily in Data & Analytics technology serving the Financial Services industry. Prior to joining Amazon, I led a technology organization with 72 people across 4 countries and multiple disciplines, including business analysts, software engineering, quality assurance, and technology operations. As such, I have deep expertise across both the product & technology life cycles, and I am committed to building highly functioning, results-oriented engineering teams. What really energizes me today, however, is using technology for good, or ensuring that technology is built responsibly and humanely, so that it supports us rather than exploits us. As I continue in my career, I hope to leverage the full range of my skills and experience to advance responsible and humane technology practices in new frontiers like AI, while also educating the next generation of creators.
