ABOUT CASSANDRA PLANK

Growing up in the Midwest, wine was not something many people talked about. However, as someone who loved to cook since childhood I gravitated to publications such as Food and Wine magazine and learned that the right wine could turn an ordinary dinner into something spectacular. Once I started my Wine Appreciation course during my undergraduate at Purdue University, I was hooked. For me, wine is science, art, and history that you can taste, and I wanted to be a part of it.My bachelor\'s and master\'s in biology from Purdue University and Georgia Southern University provided a broad perspective in science, but I focused in on grape and wine production while studying in the Department of Plant and Soil Science at Texas Tech. My research focused on a novel method to examine aroma compounds in wine grapes. Upon my first trip to California for a conference, however, I fell in love and needed to go west!Flash forward since finishing my doctorate in 2014, my life in the wine industry has been an adventure. I\'ve succeeded in my goal of moving to California and experienced everything from viticulture to enology to winemaking. I\'m located in Napa, wine-lover\'s heaven. My goals are to utilize my experiences, expertise, and creativity to contribute to the industry that I care about. My specialties include viticulture, enology, and winemaking. I bring research, problem solving, and critical thinking skills, creativity, and attention to detail. In my free time you might find me: wine tasting, reading, painting, cooking, and ballroom dancing.
