When I began as a Financial Wholesaler 7 years ago, I found that advisors received a lot of help with product knowledge, both internally and from numerous wholesalers such as myself. However, although product knowledge is important, advisors did not receive nearly enough support in other aspects of business development, such as sales and marketing. I identified two types of advisors that needed the most help in those areas: 1) New advisors that were just starting and needed to grow their brand and find clients. 2) Experienced advisors that had a successful practice and were ready to scale their business to multiply their results while doing less day to day work. In both cases, I found that product knowledge was not high on their list of needs. Growing their business was a top priority. After years of reading books, listening to podcasts, attending conferences, and speaking with advisors,(I also became a financial advisor myself) I believe I have more to offer than just product knowledge.
